The COBRA® PRO STYLE STEEL
The special robust design makes any use under harsh conditions possible, which is why it also meets the requirements of the norm for respiratory devices (EN137).
Just like the COBRA® PRO STYLE made of aluminium, also the steel version guarantees a tensile strength breaking load of 9 kN and 18 kN in loop configuration.
Function and features of the COBRA®
The locking mechanism of the COBRA® PRO STYLE STEEL ensures an absolutely reliable and manipulation-safe function which guarantees safety for its users at any time and in every situation.
The COBRA® PRO STYLE STEEL offers the same safety features as its equivalent made of aluminium. The main characteristics of the lock are:
- It can only be opened in a released state and by pressing both clips at the same time.
- It allows for an easy locking mechanism of both parts which makes one-sided closing nearly impossible.
- The locking mechanism is confirmed acoustically by the typical "clicking" sound.
Compatibility and application area
Currently, two versions of the COBRA® PRO STYLE STEEL are available: a fix/adjustable and a fix/fix model.
However, also other variants of the steel buckle, concerning size as well as adjustability, are planned for the future in order to make male and female part optionally combinable. This way, we made it possible for the first time to create a steel COBRA® for different webbing sizes as well as different possibilities for fixing it (fix or adjustable in length). The COBRA® PRO STYLE STEEL meets the requirements of the norm for respiratory devices (EN 137) and can therefore be used for example for containers with compressed air (compressed air breathing apparatus) with a full-face mask.
The COBRA® PRO STYLE STEEL must not be combined with the COBRA® PRO STYLE made of Aluminium!
What's different from the COBRA® NAUTIC
The COBRA® NAUTIC is made of stainless steel which doesn't rust, which makes the buckle especially suitable for an application on the high seas. However, the design, haptic and locking mechanisms of the COBRA® NAUTIC and the COBRA® PRO STYLE STEEL differ a lot: Other than the COBRA® NAUTIC, the COBRA® PRO STYLE STEEL is milled out of steel. The same procedure takes place with the COBRA® PRO STYLE, which is why form as well as hapic of the COBRA® PRO STYLE STEEL is very similar to the aluminium buckle version. The biggest difference between the two buckles can be seen on the back of the buckle: The steel version has little milling grooves. In addition, now also further sizes and variants of the COBRA® PRO STYLE STEEL can be produced. This makes an application with many different belt systems and other usage possible.
To protect the COBRA® PRO STYLE STEEL from external influences and corrosion, it was coated twice: first zinc-coated and then ktl-coated.
DIFFERENCE TO THE COBRA® PRO STYLE (ALUMINUM)
The biggest difference between the aluminum and steel versions can be seen on the back: To better distinguish between the two buckles, the steel version features a distinctive milled out section on the back of the buckle.
To protect against external influences and corrosion, the COBRA® PRO STYLE STEEL is double coated: first zinc-coated and then ktl-coated.
