Martina "Matze" Harnisch

This bundle of energy is one of the strongest sport climbers in Austria. Being able to climb this strong on top of her work commitment – she works as a physicist at a start-Up – definitely has something to do with her never-ending motivation.

Martina "Matze" Harnisch

Birth year: 1987
Current residence: Innsbruck

What motivates me? The joy of movement and my never-ending motivation.

Family is: Indispensable and irreplaceable
My occupation: Physicist
My favorite season & why: Long lives diversity, every season has its charm!
Spring & fall: nice for sport climbing and sending hard projects. Summer: the alpine North faces are calling. Winter: Powder, ski tours and Dschungel-Action (local crag in Innsbruck).
The terrainvwhere I feel the most at home: Technically demanding, vertical to slightly overhanging face climbs.
The terrain which challenges me the most: Powerful climbs with bad/slippery foot holds.
Favorite place(s): Any summit I am standing on.
What motivates me? The joy of movement and my never-ending motivation.
What a training week looks like: It doesn’t follow a certain plan. In summer, if the weather is nice, 2 times rock climbing on week ends and, work permitting, also one time rock climbing during the week, otherwise bouldering in the gym. In winter, whenever there is good (or at least enough) snow ski tours on the weekends. If there is sunshine and no snow, rock climbing on weekends and about 3 times climbing in the gym - mainly bouldering, sometimes also some routes.
Future goals: The to-do list is long: it definitely contains a lot of alpine climbing from Tyrol to Swizerland to distant destinations
dreams: a free ascent of El Cap.
