in 2009 the tough guy from eastern tyrol took part at the pakistan-expedition with the huber brothers and made a significant contribution to their first redpoint ascent of the "eternal flame".

two years earlier he already went to patagonia with alex huber. there they did two first ascents in the "puerta blanca" and the "la silia" westface (el bastardo) in patagonia, the second one mentioned together with stephan sigrist.

but its not just abroad that mario is very successfull. in the alps he did many first ascents and very rare repetitions, on rock as well as in ice,  for example "weg durch den fisch" - first ascent 7b+, "pustertaler halbgefrorenes" - first repetition since 10 years, M8/W16+, just to mention a few.
