Christoph Höbenreich

the tirolean mountain guide, skiinstructor, geophrapher and sportspedagogue Christoph Höbenreich is a passionated explorer in the most remote places in the world. He took part in many expeditions in the Arctic and Antartica, where he spent one and a half years of his life in total.

he was leading the US-polarbasis vinson base camp and climbed mount vincon already five times, which is with 4.892 metres the highest mountain in the Antarctica. furthermore he explored the northpolar archipel franz josef land. under christophs lead, a team of austrians and russians did the payer-weyprecht-memory-expedition where they were crossing the unsettled islands of the arctica group with skis and pulkasledges (www.franzjosefland.com).

apart from two more journies with skis at the nortpole and one cross through greenland with dogsledges he was leading and organising the first austrian expedition to queen maud land, which is a spectacular ice- and rocklandscape in the rarely visited eastarctica. with his team the passionated climber and skiier could explore many untouched mountain ranges and added some new ascents at so far nameless mountains to his touring book. AUSTRIALPIN is always accompaniing him on his expeditons in the ice.

today Christoph is working full time in the department of sports (ski and mountaineering) in tirol, where he can share his experiences from the polarworld of ice- and snow.
