the father of benni jun. is very well-known in the scene. since many years he is fascinated about exploring new, challenging routes in his home mountains like the wetterstein, karwendel, and the "mieminger" range.

"senior", as he is called in the austrialpin family, is living in telfs. he works as an engineer. for many years he has also been working as a mountain-guide and has been the speaker for the mountain rescue team in telfs.

among his best achievements in ice are amore fragile (Wi7) and dreamcatcher  (Wi6+, M8-).
apart from "vogelfrei" Bernhard did all routes in the schüsselkar southface, including the
first ascent of  "supernova" (9+) and "friedenspfeife" (8+). the list can be continued endlessly, here are just a few more examples: the repetition of "der weg durch den fisch" (9-) and "das phantom der zinne" (9+). the route "mitten durchs herz" (8+), he first ascended in summer 2010 togehter with his friend Markus Praxmarer has a very special statues for him.
